I'm a little embarrassed that it's been this long! Hello! I'm here!! Long story short, Tanners laptop got stolen, and even though life without mine has been rough, it's been the last thing on the list to buy with student loans. :) We will get one soon though, because I can only do so much on my phone!! So, I have taken a long break from updating this blog due to mean San Francisco hobos. (I'm not really sure it was a hobo, actually I doubt it was a hobo that stole his laptop, but for some reason it makes me feel better saying hobo...)

So, October. I had my birthday, we celebrated our 3 year anniversary, our first Halloween in the city, and fun in between. Basically I'm sure it was a great month, but it's been way too long I seriously don't remember.

We took our first trip to walk around the Palace, and we were sad it took us that long to experience thebeautifulness!!

I had a morning off and it was spent at the Oakland temple. That place is so beautiful with such an amazing view!

We got to experience our first (I know.. a lot of firsts) fleet week extravanagza where we got to watch the planes fly high in the sky, from our friends amazing roof top.

On my birthday, we had a Relief Society cooking group (we have one every month and it's AWESOME!) and it was fun to be with some girlfriends. Tanner was able to leave school around 8:30, so we walked around some shops, walked the Lion steps, and ate birthday cake (made by me-yes I made my own birthday cake!), and the large donut my friends dropped off at home, and finished the night by watching our shows. It was hard to not see Tanner much on my birthday, but I was glad he was able to leave school a little early for me!

We got to go to Southern California to attend Madison's bridal shower, watch Logan's football, and be with family! Tanner was invited to a dental conference that same weekend, so it totally worked out great! We were glad we got to go, and it was so fun that our friends picked us up from the airport. We can't wait for them to visit in a couple weeks!

When we got back to the city, we celebrated our three year anniversary, and Tanner surprised me with dinner at Foreign Cinema, a place that has been on my list to try! It was SUCH a good surprise. They play foreign movies (usually) during the movie, and we totally lucked out with watching Wizard of Oz! It was such a blast and the menu is different every day... it was delicious!!!

I ran into this great looking guy on my birthday, and was too shocked to get a picture, so when I saw him again, I stalked him for five minutes taking pictures and the laughing tears wouldn't stop. I'll spare you the frontals haha!!

I got to work with a event planning boutique here in the city, and I got to be like J-Lo with a headset and everything. To say I was smiling from ear to ear is and understatement. I loved every second!!

We trick or treated with the families in the ward at Presidio Heights-a neighborhood that has large houses and yards!!! Yes, grass! :) I'm jealous of everyone that lives in there. They also give the best treats ever-King sized candy, packs of gum, etc! And then we went to our friends Halloween Party! It was a fun day!

The month of October, like every month whizzed by. Can't believe we have lived here for almost six months now! Until the next update....

(also, it must have been too long, because nothing is cooperating and centering... oh well)

We turned Three on Monday! I can't believe we've been married for three years-time has gone by so fast. There isn't anyone more perfect for me. I love my Tanner!

Two New Recipes

Last night I had the sister missionaries over for dinner, and it made me make a three course meal. I was such a homemaker and I loved it!
Do you love the Pioneer Woman as much as I do? She's awesome. I made her 7 can soup (technically 14 since I doubled it!) and her Strawberry Pretzel Pie. These are two easy and yummy recipes to make for your next time hosting a dinner. I threw the soup into the crockpot for extra time saving, and with a side of cornbread muffins-it was heavenly!

7-Can Soup

5 Minutes
20 Minutes
6 Servings
  • 1 can Meat-only Chili
  • 1 can 15-ounce Kidney Beans
  • 1 can (15 Ounce) Pinto Beans
  • 1 can (15 Oz. Size) Black Beans
  • 1 can 15-ounce Diced Tomatoes
  • 1 can (15-ounce) Corn (I Used Fiesta Variety)
  • 1 can (10 Ounce) Rotel
  • Salt And Pepper, to taste
  • 8 ounces, weight Velveeta, Cubed
Without draining the cans, empty the corn, chili, kidney beans, pinto beans, black beans, tomatoes and tomatoes with green chilies into a large pot over high heat. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes to bring all the flavors together. Add salt and pepper as needed.

Dice the cheese and stir it into the soup until melted. Serve immediately.

Strawberry Pretzel Pie

4 Hours
10 Minutes
8 Servings
  • 4 cups Pretzel Sticks
  • 1 stick (8 Tablespoons) Butter, Melted
  • 1/3 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1-1/2 cup Sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons Cornstarch
  • 1 package (3.5 Ounce) Strawberry-flavored Jello
  • 1-1/2 cup Water
  • 3 pints Strawberries, Hulled And Halved
  • Unsweetened Whipped Cream
For the pretzel crust: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Crush the pretzels in a large resealable plastic bag with a rolling pin. Mix in a bowl with the butter and brown sugar. Press into a pie pan and bake for 8 minutes. Remove and set aside to cool.

For the strawberry filling: Put 1 1/2 cups water, the granulated sugar, cornstarch and gelatin powder in a saucepan. Stir together and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and cook until it starts to thicken, about 2 to 3 minutes, then remove from the heat. Let the liquid cool for a good 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Put the strawberries in a bowl and pour over the sauce, gently tossing together. Allow to sit for 5-7 minutes, then carefully pile the coated strawberries into the cooled pie crust. Spoon over a little leftover sauce if needed, and refrigerate, uncovered, for 4 hours.

Cut into slices and serve with whipped cream. (Unsweetened is nice because the pie is so sweet!)

The Best Week Ever

Last week Tanner had a week off at the end of his quarter. It's crazy to think that one quarter is already done...where did the time go!? He is 1/12 a dentist, and that's kinda crazy. We chose this school because it was 3 years instead of 4, and sometimes we wish it was a lot longer, because time just moves so quickly!

You know you're bad at blogging when you have to keep saying "I can't believe it's insert month" every post, but it's true! This is crazy that it's already October!!

We celebrated with our friends at Delarosa, a delicious Italian restaurant, and then headed to Super Duper for some shakes. The whole night we were still separated girls/boys, because I don't think we really knew how to talk to our spouses anymore, haha! The boys couldn't stop talking about their finals, but luckily by the end of the week it was better! :)

We had booked flights to Utah for a couple days, and I'm so glad we did! However, Tanner's Friday final got cancelled, and so did my work, so we could have left Thursday night! But, instead we headed to the beach for some relaxation, and were able to deep clean the house after a crazy week.
We arrived in SLC around midnight, and stopped at Krispy Kreme's for donuts with our friends, and then had a slumber party until about 2:30! It was crazy and we loved it.
We then went to good ole' Kneaders with our friends and family, and it was delicious of course!
My next stop was Sodalicious with the girls and some shopping, while the boys played tennis, sold our scooter, and took a longgggg nap.

Then that evening we hit up Cafe Rio which made our hearts so happy. We ended the night with some s'mores, good music, and lots of laughs.

The next morning, Sunday, we attended church, and then went for a beautiful drive up the canyon before we headed to be with the Zylstra's. Unfortunately Utah was pretty hot while we were there, but the leaves had still changed and it was beautiful as ever!

We then went to Tanner's brother's new home they just built, and it was such a blast to spend a couple days with their family.

We even had the best view of the blood moon!

On Monday we had a little spa day for an early anniversary celebration (I can't believe it's been another year almost!), went to the BYU bookstore, met up with some friends at Slab pizza, explored how much Provo has changed in 6 months, and drove by our old house! We then went to dinner with the Zylstra's and stayed up late eating ice cream and watching Netflix.

On Tuesday, we had a couple errands to run before we left, so back in Provo we met up with Shelley for lunch at Cafe Rio again, and then drove up to SLC for dinner with the fan before we left.
It was a quick trip full of family time, and lots of food, but we are so happy we went!

When we got back to San Francisco, I had to work the rest of the week, but we still got to sleep in together and have fun in the evenings (which we had missed!).
Wednesday night was a memorable evening of biking down the Embarcadero to the Giants vs. Dodgers game. We scored with a FREE bike valet (who knew there was such a thing!?), and great priced tickets! We devoured diet coke and garlic fries, and had such a good night with Chad and Melissa.

Isn't this sunset amaziiiing?

I had a "few" tears shed Sunday night and Monday morning realizing that our week of fun was suddenly over. This quarter is going to be even more rough, so already looking forward to the 2 days off at Thanksgiving!

Cheers to fun, and husbands!
